DESCRIPTION:Dakota Territory pioneer Elizabeth Dell was a friend of the Sio
 ux. During certain battles Sitting Bull protected her. Elizabeth’s husband
  George had a peace pipe of Sitting Bull’s and the two men smoked it toget
 her on several occasions. One of Elizabeth’s prized possessions was a phot
 o of Sitting Bull that the renowned Hunkpapa Sioux leader had signed for h
 er. \nAcclaimed food writer and historian Sharon Hudgins will recount the
  fascinating stories of her pioneer great grandmother Elizabeth Dell\, a w
 oman who also cooked for Sitting Bull\, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday\, October 26
 \, at the Allen Public Library.  \nHudgins will share some of the recipes
  and will elaborate on her great grandmother’s evolving friendship with th
 e Sioux.  \nAn award-winning author and journalist who has lived in 10 cou
 ntries\, Hudgins is a former university professor. She has also been a lec
 turer on numerous tours for National Geographic\, Smithsonian\, Viking Cru
 ises\, and other companies\, including a recent cruise around the British
  Isles to the Scottish Highlands and the Shetland and Orkney Islands.  Sha
 ron is the author of The Other Side of Russia: A Slice of Life in Siberia
  and the Russian Far East \, and T-Bone Whacks and Caviar Snacks: Cooking
