DESCRIPTION:Dr. Deborah Liles will discuss the relevance of wills and proba
 te records at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday\, April 10\, at the Allen Public Library
 .  These records have proved to be some of the most fascinating documents
  in genealogy and local research. \nDr. Liles will not only explain what h
 appens to an individual’s property when they die and how that is decided b
 ut will also share how delving into probate records provides a fascinating
  glimpse into the lives of the deceased. \nThe audience will learn how to
  locate these bounties of information and apply them to their research. A
  question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. The audience is
  invited to bring current or future research for tips and tricks on how to
  make their exploration more rewarding. \nDr. Deborah Liles is an assistan
 t professor and the W. K. Gordon Endowed Chair in Texas History at Tarleto
 n State University. She is the co-editor of Women in Civil War Texas: Dive
 rsity and Dissidence in the Trans-Mississippi\, winner of the Liz Carpente
 r Award for Best Book on the History of Women\, and coeditor of African Am
 ericans in Central Texas History: From Slavery to Civil Rights.  Above all
 \, local history is her passion\, especially when it comes to digging thro
 ugh courthouses and archival documents.  \nSponsored by the Allen Public L
