 it on silicon chips the size of a thumbnail in our laptops and cell phones
 .  \nHoward Tigelaar earned a PhD in physical chemistry from the Universit
 y of Illinois and was employed at Texas Instruments as a thin film deposit
 ion and etch engineer.  After transitioning into process integration\, he
  led groups of engineers and technicians that developed manufacturing flow
 s for next generation integrated circuit chips.   Howard is also coauthor
