DESCRIPTION:Origins of our human ancestry continue to captivate the public.
   Archeologists have discovered artifacts on the Gault site that are alter
 ing the commonly held theories regarding \nthe early inhabitation of Texas
 .   \nLocated in Bell County\, compelling evidence from the Gault site sug
 gests occupation there occurred at least 20\,000 years ago. This is prior
  to the appearance of the Clovis peoples.  Dr. Jon Lohse will discuss the
  overall work at the Gault Site and ongoing work at the Gault School of Ar
 cheological Research (GSAR) at 7:30p.m. Thursday\, October 30 at the Allen
  Heritage Village\, 450 E. St. Mary Dr. \nA native Houstonian\, Dr. Lohse
  completed his graduate degrees from The University of Texas and is on the
  board of directors of the Gault School for Archaeological Research. He ha
 s conducted multidisciplinary research in Texas and Central America\, wher
 e he has developed interests in early (Archaic and Paleoindian) time perio
 ds. He has published on preceramic work in Belize\, Guatemala\, and Oaxaca
 \; Mesoamerican (Maya) settlement and household archaeology and commoner s
 tudies\; paleoecological reconstructions using environmental proxies\; hig
 h-precision radiocarbon-based chronologies\; and lithic technologies\, esp
 ecially early (Clovis) strategies for stone tool making and learning. \nSp
