DESCRIPTION:To level the playing field in the federal marketplace for Women
  Owned and Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Businesses (WOSB/E
 DWOSB) to sell to the government\, the federal government has established
  a 5 percent goal. Why should women take advantage of this unique opportun
 ity\, and what do you need to do? \nIn FY20\, the government awarded 4.85%
  or $27 billion dollars in federal contracts to WOSB/EDWOSB. Women entrepr
 eneurs left .15% of federal contracting opportunities on the table. \nTo t
 ake advantage of the benefits of being certified as a WOSB or EDWOSB\, you
  must get certified. This workshop will help you know what to do. \nMeet o
 ur SBA Instructor \nNancy N. Alvarez\, Lead Business Opportunity Specialis
 t with the SBA Dallas/Fort Worth District Office will facilitate the works
 hop and will be available to answer specific questions on the certificatio
 n eligibility and process. \nNancy serves as the Head of the 8(a) Business
  Development Program for the U.S. Small Business Administration\, Dallas/F
 ort Worth District Office. She is instrumental in providing leadership\, m
 anagement and oversight to optimize the deployment of SBA’s Federal Contra
 cting programs and serves the small business communities within a 72 count
 y geographical area in North Texas. As the SBA’s Women Ownership Business
  Representative\, she is responsible for increasing participation of women
  owned small businesses in Federal Contracting Programs and advocates to l
 ocal Federal agencies on behalf of Women Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs). \
 nNancy graduated from Jacksonville University with a bachelor's degree in
  Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude). She is a member of Phi Beta Ka
 ppa Honor. She served on the Board of the City of Jacksonville\, Mayor’s H
 ispanic American Advisory Board and the Mayor’s Small & Emerging Business
  Advisory Council. Additionally\, she served as an advisory board member i
 n the Beaver Street Enterprise Center\, Jacksonville’s first business incu
 bator. Nancy is currently an advisory board member of the Dallas/Fort Wort
 h Federal Agency Small Business Advocacy Council (FASBAC)\, a small busine
 ss professional’s forum where federal agencies share\, gather\, and create
  ideas that promote small businesses’ interest and participation in the fe
