Celebrate Allen’s railroad heritage on Saturday, March 28, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Allen Heritage Museum. The Museum is located at the Depot, 100 East Main. The Allen High School Theatre Department, directed by Leigh Ann Unkenholz, will reenact the infamous Sam Bass train robbery at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. This was the first successful train robbery in Texas.
Visitors can also inspect the model train exhibit, observe an authentic railroad telegraph demonstration by Jay Rawot, and enjoy train crafts for kids.
In addition, attendees will be treated to a meet and greet with President Teddy Roosevelt-portrayed by Tilden Bullard-the only sitting president to visit Allen and have a chance to snap photos with the steam engine.
Ebenezer Allen--portrayed by Allen Mesch--will also be available for questions, book signing and photo ops.
Bag of ‘gold’ prize for scavenger hunt in depot.
