Celebrate National Buffalo Soldiers Day by viewing 761st Tank Battalion: The Original Black Panthers (2023) at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at the Allen Public Library. Sgt. Clinton Warren will introduce the film.
The contributions of the African American unit 761st Tank Battalion were crucial in defeating the Nazis during World War II, and this documentary reveals the daunting challenges that confronted those brave soldiers. Starring Morgan Freeman and Sgt. Clinton Warren, this film shares how, using cleverness and passion, they helped America secure pivotal military objectives. The courage and fortitude shown by the 761at Tank Battalion demonstrates a bravery that was knowingly against all odds.
The film was directed by Emmy- and Peabody-winning Phil Bertelsen, who works both in scripted and unscripted film and TV. Featured actor 1SG Clinton Warren is a member of Co E 24th Infantry Regiment, Texas Buffalo Soldiers Association.
