Allen Heritage Guild features Caddo program-Ed Bryan of Allen will share the story of the Caddo people, some of whom once inhabited the land that later became Allen, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at the Allen Heritage Center. The first Americans crossed over the Bearing Sea land bridge from Siberia at the end of the Ice Age (before 13,000 B.C.E. or earlier) and migration continued until the arrival of the first European explorers in Texas circa 1500 A.D. As these first Native Americans progressed and thrived, so did their hunting tools and methods. A discussion on the prehistoric animals, along with the weapons and tools used by the early Paleoindian will be included. Over the next 8,000 years, they developed complex societies, including language, agriculture, housing, art and fine pottery. Ed will also share artifacts from his collection.
Sponsored by the Allen Heritage Guild, the program is free.
