On Saturday, September 24th, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1324 W. Exchange Parkway in Allen, will host a humanitarian service project on behalf of Days for Girls. Community volunteers ages 8 and up are welcome, 4pm-7pm. Days for Girls is an international non-profit organization that aims to provide a “more dignified, free and educated world through access to lasting feminine hygiene solutions” for girls and women around the world.
LDS church members in the Allen and Lewisville area have teamed up in an effort to make 1000 hygiene kits for girls in the Southern Sudan. Pam Moore, of Lewisville, is leading the charge as the head of the Days for Girls chapter in the area. She plans to deliver the kits to Uganda in person when she visits later this year. Terrie Ryan of Allen is heading up the upcoming service project. She has been coordinating volunteers, materials, and meeting sites. Of this experience, Ryan said, “The Lord’s hand is definitely in this project.” More information is available at www.daysforgirls.org.
