Disaster Relief Backpacks donated by Kiwanis

KIWANIS CLUB of ALLEN

Disaster Relief Backpacks donated to the Allen Fire Department.

What would you do if your house burned down?  Maybe go to hotel but you have nothing... not even a toothbrush.  The Kiwanis Club of Allen in conjunction with the Texas - Oklahoma Kiwanis District has come up with a remedy for such a problem.   Recently collected and filled for disasters such as the Moore, Oklahoma tornado, it just made sense to share them in our local communities also.  Color coded and tagged for adults and children, infants, boys vs. girls, the contents are specific to the immediate needs of each.  The presentation of these backpacks was made at a recent Kiwanis Club meeting.  Pictured with some of the backpacks are Assistant Fire Chief, Dave Cannaday, Kiwanis President, Russ Waite and fire Chief, Bill Hawley.

The Kiwanis Club of Allen is a local chapter of Kiwanis International, dedicated to ‘Changing the World One Child & One Community at a Time.’

Weekly meetings are at noon and held at the Café del Rio, Allen.  Come join us for lunch… visitors are welcome. Or visit www.allenkiwanis.org
