National Charity League-Allen Honors its Class of 2015

National Charity League, Inc.’s Allen Chapter held its Class of 2015 Senior Presentation on Sunday, March 22nd, at the Eisemann Center in Richardson.  Family and friends gathered to recognize the class’s years of service to Allen and the surrounding community.  The mothers and daughters of the class of 2015 have collectively served over 3000 volunteer hours with many local organizations, including Allen Community Outreach, Allen ISD, Allen Arts Alliance, the Heard Museum, ManeGait, and Operation Homefront.

Live music for the event was provided by a string quartet, courtesy of the Allen Philharmonic.  The ceremony ended with a special waltz by the girls and their fathers, followed by a celebration dinner for the families.

Class President, Riley Christiansen, summed up the occasion: “Senior Presentation was a wonderful way to celebrate and reflect on the accomplishments of the Class of 2015.  In our time with NCL we have created friendships, connected with our mothers on a whole new level, and impacted the community in a great way.”

The class chose Boyd Elementary as its philanthropy focus for the year.  The class provided backpacks for students and treats for teachers, along with help staffing Boyd's annual Holiday Excellence Shop and Study Buddies program.  Boyd's Care Coordinator, Susan Oliver, thanked the class for its assistance and encouraged the class:  "I hope that you all go out into this great big world and continue to make an impact to all of the people that you encounter. I hope you all realize that each one of you makes a difference and that you are powerful."

Class Philanthropy Vice President, Sarah Allen, said “My time working with ACO and our schools has opened my eyes to how many of our fellow citizens are in need of assistance. I feel fortunate that I could spend time that might help make a difference in someone's life.”

Annie Allen served as one of the senior class’s Grade Level Advisors.  She praised the class, saying, “These young women have grown as leaders and have significantly helped our community through their commitment to serving others. As the mother of two daughters whom both served in National Charity League with me, I am grateful to have been able to participate in an organization that encourages community service, leadership and cultural experiences for both me and my teenaged girls. It has helped us spend extra time together throughout their teenage years while giving back to our community.”

The Allen Chapter congratulates these accomplished young ladies!  As they head off to college this year they carry NCL’s valuable lessons of community service, leadership development, and cultural experiences with them.  They are well-equipped to make the same positive impact on their new communities that they have made here in Allen.

National Charity League, Inc. was organized in 1925 in California and now numbers more than 50,000 members in over 185 chapters nationwide.  The Allen Chapter was founded in 2011.  Membership in NCL provides opportunities for mothers and their 7th- to 12th-grade daughters to strengthen their bond while growing together, sharing of themselves and improving their communities through philanthropic, leadership and cultural activities.
