City of Allen Offers Curbside Recycling Pick-Up for Christmas Trees and Excess Holiday Trash

Want to help out the environment with very little effort?  If so, all you have to do is set your Christmas trees and other non-artificial decorations by your curb.  It's that easy.

The City of Allen is offering free Christmas tree curbside pick-up to residents.  The city will pick up clean, natural Christmas trees from your normal collection point for composting.  All stands, ornaments and decor, including tinsel, must be removed in order for your tree to be picked up. Pick-up begins Monday, Dec. 26 and lasts through Monday, Jan. 8.  Trees that are taller than 6 ft in height must be cut into two sections.

Residents can also dispose of their tree at the Custer Road Transfer Station Wood Grinding Facility (9901 Custer Rd.).  Please bring your current water bill and a drivers license with matching name.  Flocked trees cannot be composted, but will be taken at the Custer Road Transfer Station for disposal.  A current water bill and matching drivers license is also required.

In addition, for one week following Christmas Day, Community Waste Disposal will collect up to five trash bags of excess holiday trash.
