New Year's Eve is only a couple of days away, and while you whether you celebrate with a simple night on the couch or with a glass of champagne, keep yourself safe and out of legal trouble.
Remember that if you're within Allen city limits or within 5,000 feet of any incorporated area, the possession, transportation or discharging of fireworks is illegal. Sparklers are included in the fireworks ban, as they are more dangerous than many people think and have been known to cause severe burns to children.
According to a City of Allen press release, nationally, fireworks are responsible for an average of 10,000 hospital treated injuries and millions of dollars of direct property damage each year.
Have a safe New Year's Eve!
