Members Brad Johnson, Anita Rushing, Baine Brooks, Honoree, Kiwanis President Russ Waite & Lt. Governor, Shawn Wade
The Kiwanis Club of Allen presented their “Spirit of Community” award to Baine Brooks, owner of Two Rows Classic Grill, for his unwavering support of the Kiwanis mission, to “Serve the Children of the World”.
Members of the selection committee noted that Baine is “always involved, helping out and donating his time and resources” to many of the causes in the city. They added, “It was an easy choice on our part to choose him to be recognized for all he does.”
Originally from Atlanta, Baine came to Allen 20 years ago by way of Oklahoma. Along with the restaurant, he has found time to be involved Allen Community Outreach and is now on the City Council. He and his family are proud to call Allen their home.
The Kiwanis Club of Allen gives back every dollar of support received (over $25,000) to various child centric causes. Just some of these include:
- Angel League… a baseball program for special needs kids
- Dictionaries… for every third grade student in Allen and Lovejoy
- Scholarships… for college bound seniors
- ACO… we are a sustaining sponsor of Allen Community Outreach
- Key Club and Circle K… we sponsor three service clubs for high school and college students
So when you see flags go up on holidays in your neighborhood, or someone (a Kiwanian) asks you to buy a ticket for the annual Pancake Breakfast in December or maybe invites you to play golf in our annual Ron Gentry Memorial Tournament, you’ll know what we do with the money you donate.
The Kiwanis Club of Allen is a local chapter of Kiwanis International, dedicated to ‘Changing the World One Child & One Community at a Time.’
Weekly meetings are at noon. Come join us for lunch… visitors are welcome. Or visit www.allenkiwanis.org.
