Farmersville, TX - February 1, 2012: Farmersville residents will soon receive assistance that rural Collin County desperately needs. 

Beginning Friday, February 10, 2012, The North Texas Food Bank will send a representative to The Farmersville Resale Shop every Friday afternoon to screen residents for Food Stamps and TANF.  Applications for Medicaid can be dropped off as well.

Allen Community Outreach currently provides basic human service needs- such as financial assistance for rent and utilities, clothing and food, and other family services to residents of Allen, Fairview and Lucas.  September 26, 2011 ACO opened The Farmersville Resale Shop to help serve northeast Collin County.  “We are thrilled to be expanding our services into this part of the county. Currently, there is no agency to help these folks and we want to become good neighbors and extend our hands to our faith and business partners to help residents within the community meet their family crisis.” said Agency Executive Director, Glenda May. 

ACO will also begin screening Farmersville families for clothing vouchers.  “Basic human needs includes clothing and that is something we can help with right away.  Beginning February 14, The Farmersville Resale Shop will begin screening families to receive clothing vouchers.   ACO hopes to open this program to the surrounding communities in the future, but for now we are focusing on Farmersville,” said Del Herrod, Director of Resale Shops for ACO. 

The Farmersville Resale Shop opened to a wonderful reception last fall, and continues to draw shoppers.  All items are donated from the community and resold with profits benefiting the programs of ACO.  Drop off donations are accepted at the location each day, Monday-Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm. A tax deductible receipt for your donation is available. Allen Community Outreach and the ACO Resale Shops operate as a non-profit charity with a 501 (c)3 status.

The Farmersville Resale Shop location is 604 Highway 78 North Suite #103. A small staff manages the store and relies heavily on volunteer involvement for assistance in sorting through donations and stocking the sales floor.
