UNT Dallas, NTFB to continue monthly mobile food pantries in 2023 beginning Jan. 20

The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) will continue its monthly mobile food pantries in 2023, beginning Friday, Jan. 20, from 9 a.m.-noon on the UNT Dallas campus (7300 University Hills Blvd., Dallas, TX 75241). In partnership with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB), the free, drive-through service is open to the public. The partnership was launched to help students during the pandemic but has been extended due to growing needs of the community related to inflation, job loss and more.

“Between the post-pandemic fallout and rising costs, North Texans are continuing to tighten their budgets as food insecurity continues to affect so many,” said UNT Dallas Pres. Bob Mong. “We hope our monthly food distribution events will ease that burden for not only our student population but also our neighbors in need of food support. Thank you to our loyal partner, North Texas Food Bank, for their exhaustive efforts to help our community stay strong and healthy.”

Participants will be asked to complete a simple intake form while remaining inside their cars. UNT Dallas volunteers will load a box of food into each person’s trunk.

UNT Dallas police officers will direct the flow of traffic entering and exiting the UNT Dallas campus.

In addition to Jan. 20, monthly mobile food pantry events will be held on campus the following dates: Feb. 17, March 17, April 21, May 19, June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 (subject to change) and Dec. 15.

UNT Dallas is seeking volunteers to help throughout the year. If interested, sign up here or, for questions, email Eronia King at eronia.king@untdallas.edu.
