The Allen Arts Alliance will be offering art classes for children and adults at the Blue House Gallery this fall. Below is a listing of our class schedules beginning this September through November. To register for any of these classes, please download the registration form and submit with your check payment in person to our office. We are located at 102 S. Allen Drive in downtown Allen. Weekday Classes for Children and Adults:
Art Beyond Sight (Adults)
Art is all around us, and it includes music as well. We will explore various media and techniques, such as acrylic, collage, bleeding tissue paper technique. We will listen to music and explore the effect of music on our art. Class meets September 6, 13, and 20 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $150 for all three sessions.
Exploring Art from around the World (Grades 2-5)
Children will explore art from different parts of the world (such as Australian aboriginal art and more) including its background and techniques. Class meets on five consecutive Tuesdays, September 17 though October 15 from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $220 for all five sessions.
Paint like the Masters (Grades 1-4)
Children will explore Henri Matisse's style and techniques using acrylics, watercolors, colored pencils, and markers. This will be a fantastic journey into the use of color and motion on canvas or paper. Classes meet on six consecutive Wednesdays, September 25 - October 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $210 for all 6 sessions.
Color, Brush, and Write (Grades 2-5)
Children will explore a wealth of painting techniques, creative writing, and colorful creations. We'll make picture frames, treasure boxes, and more. Join us this session and learn all about art – not just the type you hang on walls, but the kind in which you invest your creative mind. Class meets on three consecutive Tuesdays, November 5, 12, and 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $140 for all three sessions.
Do String Me Along (Adults-Intro)
Learn about the basic technique in stringing beads and findings, different styles of clasps and materials. This class will be using wood and stone beads as well as recycled and found items to create original jewelry pieces. Class meets on six consecutive Fridays, September 20 - October 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $40 per class (materials included). Need to bring 1 set of "Gadgets and Gizmos" 3-plier set which can be purchased at Hobby Lobby for $15.99.
Don't String Me Up - Intro to Jewelry Making (Children ages 9-up)
Kids will be introduced to jewelry-making using wax, leather cords, wood and stone beads. They will learn different knotting techniques to create unique designs with diffrent findings and clasps. Class meets on four consecutive Thursdays from 10:00am to Noon: September 19 - October 10 (1st Class Series) and October 17 - November 7 (2nd Class Series). Cost is $125 for each class series (4 sessions) and includes supplies.
Off the Cuff - Leather Tooling Cuff Bracelets (Children ages 9-up)
Kids will have fun making leather cuff bracelets using embossed design and paints. We will be using hammers, so this will be a very noisy class! Class meets on six consecutive Thursdays, September 19 - October 24 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. Cost is $170 for all six sessions (or $30 per class) including supplies.
Saturday Classes for Children:
Drawn in by Art (Grades 5-7)
Students will receive drawing supplies and a sketchbook with their paid registration. The course will include drawing lesosns to work on between class session in your student's take-home sketchbook. We will work large scale with special materials, including: charcoal, ink and colored pencils. Saturday classes on September 14, October 12, and November 9 from 9:30am to Noon. Cost is $100 for the entire class series and includes supplies.
