Ho-ho-ho for Fido, Felines, or Any Four-legged Family Members

This holiday season, the family pet is included in the fun, as the tradition of having photos with Santa now includes four-legged relatives on two special days. On December 8 and 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Watters Creek offers free visits with Santa for your fido or feline.
“Watters Creek is a place for every member of the family,” said Glenda Garcia, marketing director, Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, “so we love including our four-legged friends.”
Photo sittings with Santa for the (two-legged) kids are available daily, at no charge, through Dec. 24 at Watters Creek at the big man’s new location across from Blue Fish. Typical hours are Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m (hours may vary, so please visit www.watterscreek.com for specific times). Families have the opportunity to purchase photo packages starting at $18, and no personal photos are allowed.
Enjoy pet photos with Santa on two special days: December 8 and 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Ten percent of the proceeds from the pet photo event will be donated to the Collin County Humane Society, and Watters Creek will also host pet adoptions during the event.
Thinking about making your pet the star of the holiday photos? Follow a few tips to get that picture-perfect portrait for your pet:
- Think Outfit. Whether your pet is going to wear his holiday finest or that always-in-style fur coat, plan ahead. Make sure that Christmas sweater fits and give the coat a good brush to bring out the shine prior to meeting Santa.
- Bring Treats. Pack some of your pets’ favorite yummy treats and use them to help get your pet’s attention when it’s time to say “woof.”
- Know Your Pet. If your pet has a thing about gloves or people with beards, know this ahead of time. Knowing how your pet is most comfortable helps to make a “purrfect” portrait.
- Don’t Forget the Family. Want a photo of your pet with Santa and your human children? Get everyone in on the fun and have them attend in their holiday finest so you can be sure to have a photo you’ll treasure for years.
There are plenty of ways to capture the magic of the holiday season at Watters Creek. The Celebration of Lights, a fantasyland of animated light displays with more than 145,000 lights synchronized to holiday music, is available for ooh-ing and ahh-ing every Monday through Saturday on the half hour from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. through New Year’s Eve. Why not view the beautiful lights in a fun way with your family? Free trolley rides are available from 6 to 9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday evening through Dec. 14 and daily from Dec. 16-21. Or whisk your loved ones away in classic holiday style with free horse-drawn carriage rides from 3 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 7, 13-14, 16-21 and Dec. 23. On Christmas Eve, enjoy a carriage ride from 1 to 5 p.m. Allow the kiddos to get up close and personal with the big guy at Brunch with Santa with the Lucky Duck Kids Club, and remember others this season by joining in and donating new, unwrapped gifts for kids and teens via the Toys for Tots partnership with Allen Community Outreach.
