If so, check out the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry's Wednesday morning meetings August 23 to October 4, 9-10:30 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, TX. The new six-week Expert Speaker Series is designed to provide new insights for landing a career-building job.  Please Note The St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry will not meet on Wednesday, September 6.

Topic:      Uncovering Opportunities in the "Hidden Job Market"

Speaker:  David Ellis, Assistant Director, Allen Economic Development Corporation (EDC).  As the Allen EDC Assistant Director, Mr. Ellis leads programs to attract and retain corporate investment and jobs to Allen.  Previously, he was vice president at Site Selection Group where he supported its industrial, economic development and incentive practices.  He has also worked for Plano Economic Development and has experience with Angelou Economics, an economic development consulting firm.  After experiencing a layoff in the tech industry, Mr. Ellis went through an outplacement program with Dallas-based DBM Employment & Recruiting Consultants. Within two weeks, he became a DBM consultant.  Mr. Ellis uses his experience in marketing to help people articulate their value and uncover opportunities in the "hidden job market."  A native of Oklahoma City, he has a Bachelor's degree from Trinity University in San Antonio and an MBA degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. Mr. Ellis is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD).

Speaker:  Susan Kavanaugh, Member of the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry Committee. Ms. Kavanaugh is a very active member of the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry committee.  In addition to assisting in the coordination of the weekly Wednesday morning meetings, she helps brainstorm and research future presentation topics.  Ms. Kavanaugh is a graduate of El Centro College in Dallas with an associate degree in Applied Science in Paralegal Studies.

Speaker:  Lucinda Ruch, President, Link for Success.  Over the past 30+ years, Ms. Ruch has focused on transforming business strategies and plans into operational results.  Ms. Ruch has worked successfully with Fortune 100 and Global 500 clients, including four recipients of the prestigious "Nation's Fastest Growing Businesses" award from Inc. Speaker:  Mark Andrew Zwartynski, Chairman of The Mark Andrew Group & '44 Uprising Productions. Mr. Zwartynski has spent 20 years working in the National Basketball Association with the Indiana Pacers and the Dallas MavericksDuring his tenure with the Dallas Mavericks, Mr. Zwartynski created the $180 million American Airlines Center Naming Agreement and the $7 million+ Ticketmaster Agreement.  He established the first automated sales and marketing staffs in professional and collegiate sports as well as the first Email Blast System in all sports.  Mr. Zwartynski has also produced over 2,000 sports and entertainment national broadcasts over television, radio (satellite and terrestrial) and the Internet.

Topic:      Grief & Job Loss: What is the Connection?  Using Grief Therapy to Move on to New Possibilities

Speaker:  Angela Gwinn, Director of Pastoral Care at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Plano, TX.  Ms. Gwinn holds a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Amberton University (Garland, TX) and a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Oakland University (Rochester, MI).  After a 25-year career in Industrial Sales & Marketing, Ms. Gwinn decided to pursue her passion for helping others through their life's challenges.  A Licensed Professional Counselor, Ms. Gwinn's experience to date includes work in a behavioral hospital on the adolescent unit, with a local school district, and with public mental health counseling adults and children.

Topic:       Effective Interviewing

Speaker:  Jay Fusaro, Founder and Principal, Eureka Professional Services. A nationally-known interview coach, Mr. Fusaro provides his clients with the skills and techniques necessary to successfully conduct an efficient and effective job search.  A graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Mr. Fusaro is a CPA in the State of Texas as well as a Certified SMU Business Coach.  He was Vice President of Financial Planning for Alliance Data during their successful IPO.  Mr. Fusaro has both built and led high performing teams throughout his career and has implemented internal mentoring programs.  The e-book version of Mr. Fusaro's book titled Interviewing from the Other Side of the Desk received a 2017 silver medal from the Independent Publishers Association in recognition as the "Best Adult Non-Fiction Informational Book."  Mr. Fusaro has been a guest speaker at the Texas Society of CPAs Expo Conferences in Houston, San Antonio and Arlington. 

The St. Jude Career Alliance is a ministry helping college students, career builders and those who are unemployed/underemployed to develop individual career strategies that meets at 9:00 AM most every Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, TX. This Expert Speaker Series is free of charge and open to all people of any faith, ethnicity, age, etc.  Everyone is welcome!

St. Jude Catholic Church is located at 1515 North Greenville Avenue between Exchange Parkway and Stacy Road.  Attendees should park in the northeast lot and use the entrance between the church and the parish offices.

In addition to speakers and presentations at weekly Wednesday morning meetings, the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry offers training in job search skills, support groups and job hunting resources.
