St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry to Repeat "Fast Track" Curriculum Beginning Wednesday, August 6

The St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry in Allen has announced that - beginning at its weekly Wednesday morning meeting on August 6 - it will repeat its "fast track" curriculum for the seven-step series based on the Crossroads Career(R) Network Program which is a nationwide Christian-based job-search process.  The new format consolidates the seven-step series into four three-hour sessions to speed up job search success.  The St Jude Career Alliance Ministry Crossroads Career "fast track" program is open to all job seekers.  Participants will be required to purchase a Crossroads Career workbook for $5; this workbook normally retails for $18.

"We have been assisting job seekers via the Crossroads Career seven-step series since November 2010.  After carefully analyzing our success history, we realized that the participants who landed new jobs were the ones who followed the seven-step curriculum workbook closely," said Jack Bick, St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry volunteer coordinator.  "Consequently, we have made two noteworthy changes: (1) the time required to complete the seven-step series has been shortened to help ensure all participants are ready sooner to aggressively look for new jobs with successful results; and (2) the overall curriculum now has a proactive 'hands-on' approach that requires all participants to complete the workbook assignments."

The repeat of the four-week Crossroads Career "fast track" curriculum will be presented at St. Jude Parish in Allen on four successive Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to noon, beginning on August 6 and ending on August 27.  The seven steps and their corresponding topics to be discussed during each of the four three-hour sessions will be:

WEEK 1 (Wednesday, August 6)

Step 1-----Upward - Hear  Follow God's Calling

Step 2-----Attitude - Reach Forward

WEEK 2 (Wednesday, August 13)

Step 3-----Aptitude - Discover Your Best

WEEK 3 (Wednesday, August 20)

Step 4-----Altitude - Target Opportunities

Step 5-----Searching - Seek to Serve

WEEK 4 (Wednesday, August 27)

Step 6-----Sorting - WOW Interviews

Step 7-----Selecting- Walk in Good Works

Each weekly session will include homework assignments, individual weekly progress reviews and networking as well as one-on-one opportunities to consult with speakers and leaders.  In addition, there will be opportunities to participate in the Christ Centered Career Group peer meetings which follow the regular Wednesday weekly meetings.  Participants are welcome to bring snacks or a sack lunch.  "The St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry's new Crossroads Career 'fast track' curriculum is a two-way partnership that provides the tools to enable participants to have a successful job search," concluded Mr. Bick.   To date, the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry has helped approximately 200 participants land new jobs.

St. Jude Catholic Church is located at 1515 North Greenville Avenue, between Exchange Parkway and Stacy Road.  Attendees should park in the northeast lot and use the entrance closest to the three flag poles.

In addition to speakers and presentations at weekly Wednesday morning meetings and Saturday morning seminars, the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry offers training in job search skills, support groups and job hunting resources.
