Local Cub and Boy Scouts Invite Community to Experience Scouting on Sept 11 at Watters Creek

Allen, TX (August 31, 2016)— Parents and volunteers from local area Boy Scouts of America units are inviting friends, neighbors and the community as a whole to learn first-hand about Scouting, a fun exciting program that builds better young people ages 6-18.

Experience Scouting will take place, rain or shine, on Sunday, September 11, 2016, from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Watters Creek and everyone is invited!

“This event provides area families an opportunity to learn more about Scouting activities that combine fun and outdoor adventures while also building character and leadership skills,” says Doug Sinclair, Event Coordinator and Committee Chairman for the Eagle Trail District which serves the Allen and Lovejoy ISDs.

“It’s a way for those who don’t know much about Scouting or need help deciding if it would be a good fit for their family to learn more about the program,” says Sinclair, who also happens to be an Eagle Scout.

“The Boy Scouts of America tagline, ‘Prepared. For Life.’ Defines and summarizes our programs and fits with what the packs, troops and crews in our community offer every day.  It’s about developing our kids for their future and the future of our community and nation.”

“Although Scouting has been around for more than 100 years, some may not know what it’s all about.  It’s important to know that Scouting’s activities and outdoor adventure programs prepare young people for a lifetime through the emphasis of strong values and service,” says Deandrea Paul, Eagle Trail District Executive.

“The Experience Scouting event is a chance to learn more about how that happens in our community.  We are inviting all families who are up for a new adventure and activities with a purpose to come check us out.”

“The typical family with school-age children will see that through Scouting, youth can try and learn new things, go places, test themselves, and have one-of-a-kind adventures they can’t get anywhere else … all while building character and lifelong values,” says Sinclair.

The event will include a variety of Scouting activities and provide visitors with the chance to learn about the various programs and talk with local parent-volunteers.  “If you have ever wondered if Scouting would be right for your son and family, this is an event you will not want to miss.  There’s no obligation, just a chance to learn more about Scouts,” says Paul.
