Tenebrae, a word that means “darkness,” signifies the mood and sadness experienced on Good Friday, the day Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and His death on Calvary.

First United Methodist Church of Allen hosts a special Good Friday Tenebrae service on Friday, April 3, at 7:00pm, in the church's sanctuary. The service features composer John Rutter's "Requiem,” performed by the FUMC Allen Chancel Choir, members of the Allen Symphony Chorus, and orchestra. The "Requiem" is a contemporary (1985) musical setting of parts of the Latin "Requiem" with added psalms in English.

The church’s Children's Ministry presents a Good Friday Children’s Experience at 7:00pm in FUMC Allen's children's wing. Kindergarten-sixth graders are invited to learn about the last few hours of Jesus life in a way that children can understand. Nursery is open for children in pre-K and younger.

FUMC Allen is located at 601 S Greenville Ave, Allen Tx 75002. Visit www.fumcallen.org for more information or call the church at 972.727.8261.
