This Celtic-Appalachian ballad has differing interpretations. On the surface, it seems as if the singer is wanting to marry the prettiest girl in town, but there is also a strange reference, "I'm Bound to go away." This implies that someone is dying, but they'll meet again. Musicologists say this "folk" ballad is based upon the theme of "Barbara Ellen" where two lovers die and meet again in the afterlife. The melody is derived from an English ballad, "Mattie Groves." As always the KelticDead Music Group uses live instruments that are common in Celtic-Folk music to play the tune.
