Lindley Organic Farm is a sixth generation, 150+ year-old family farm. We are licensed by the State of Texas to sell raw milk and we also sell our Devon beef. We hope to add cheese, meat chickens and a farm store this year.
Our Devon and Milking Devon cattle are totally grass-fed. They are management-intensively grazed on Certified Organic pastures. Our cows all have names and usually come to their names. We milk our cows once a day and their calves nurse until they are at least 10 months old. Our cows are outside year-round with the option of shelter during bad weather. We do not castrate our bulls as we believe it negatively affects the glandular system.
We practice a “low stress” beef harvest practice by familiarizing our bulls with the cattle trailer prior to harvest date. In addition we make sure we are first in line at the processor to further minimize stress levels. Our beef was recognized as most tender at the 2009 North American Devon Conference, registering a 2.43 on the Warner- Bratzler Shear Force test.
Our animals are given no grains, no hormones, no GMO’s, no vaccines, no antibiotics, no soy, no animal by-products, no steroids and no commercial wormers. We also have some A2 milk and genetics.
