Ken Snow and the Linear Groove Jazz Band will showcase their signature sound of 1960s, 70s and contemporary arrangements, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the Allen Public Library.

A freelance saxophonist (classical/jazz), Ken leads the six-piece jazz group Linear Groove. Spending the last 12 years directing the band at McKinney Christian Academy, he holds a bachelor of music education degree from Hardin-Simmons University and a masters in saxophone performance from the University of Kentucky.

The other members of the band include, on trumpet, Jason Webb, trombonist Chad Wood, pianist Nick Messick, bass guitarist James Driscoll, and drummer Mark Mulligan.

Admission to the program is free, and the performance will also be streamed live. Find viewing options at:

Experience the amazing diversity in wetland vegetation and wildlife while learning about the history and basics of wetland ecology. After a safety and canoeing introduction, spend about 40 minutes on a guided trail around the Heard wetlands, followed by free paddle time to explore on your own.

No experience is necessary for any of the paddle programs. All participants will be given an introduction to canoeing that includes basic strokes, boat safety, and flat water maneuvers. Minimum age: 7 years. All canoe & safety equipment provided.
