The Allen Public Library presents the stunning Bouquet Agate collection of Brad Tanas at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 23. A member of the Dallas Gem and Mineral Society, Brad presents community educational programs as a snapshot of Texas's geology with a focus on agates and agatized palm woods. Brad observes, I hope these presentations increase awareness and knowledge of geology and related earth sciences and a higher appreciation of the lapidary arts. Inspired youth of today may become our geo-scientists of tomorrow. This presentation will demonstrate how beautiful Bouquet agates form, where to collect and how to cut and polish. Specimens include rough agate still in host basalt, loose Bouquet nodules as picked up off the ground and finished specimens which includes polished slabs, free form cabs, contoured polished nodules and triplet Bouquet belt buckles.

The St. Jude Career Alliance will offer its next quarterly job search workshop on Saturday, August 1, 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 North Greenville Avenue in Allen, TX 75002. Titled Empowering Your Career Journey, One Step at a Time, this workshop reflects the post-Pandemic changes in the job search market while incorporating emerging technologies such as AI to refine parameters and identify new opportunities.

Parties interested in participating in this job search workshop will need to register online and pay a $25 fee. The fee will cover the cost of a presentation booklet, as well as lunch, drinks, and snacks. Registered attendees also need to bring a printed copy of their resume to the workshop. In addition, they need to download the Free Version of ChatGPT, the AI chatbot for everyday use, on their cell phones.

A free concert featuring the creativity and ecstatic resonance of Saxogram Band will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 14, at the Allen Public Library. Performing R&B, rap, jazz, blues, soul, country, reggae and gospel, Saxogram elevates the musical experience to new heights by offering unique sounds for each concert.

A seasoned professional saxophonist based in Dallas, bandleader Tevin Williams brings over 20 years of experience to the music scene. Holding a degree in music education from the prestigious Prairie View A&M University, Tevin is passionately dedicated to sharing his musical talents around world.

The band is comprised of: Tevin Williams, saxophonist / vocalist; Jermaine Sanders, keyboard; Tony Mitchell Jr., bass guitar; Khalil Taylor, drums; and Willene Owens, singer.
