Sunday’s Dallas Cowboys football game was a big win for the home team and delighted more than 90,000 fans who were on hand at AT&T Stadium. However, none were more delighted than two U.S. Army Officers in attendance, on leave from Fort Hood.

Captain Amanda Gonzalez had always wanted to attend a Dallas Cowboys game. Her sister, Michelle Gonzalez, had been a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader in the mid-90s, and Amanda had hoped her boyfriend, 1st Lieutenant Jonathon Cline, from Allen, could find tickets.

Jonathon’s mother, Tracey Cline of Allen Economic Development Corporation, located tickets from Joe Jernigan of Andrews Distributing in Allen. But, as everyone who knows Tracey can testify, she didn’t stop there.

Cline managed to get word to Sean Estell, who handles AT&T Sponsorships, about Jonathon’s plans to ask Amanda to marry him while they were at the game. So, Estell contacted the Cowboys and managed to get them on the “Kiss Cam.” But while most “Kiss Cam” cameos are over after a peck and a grin, Cupid had even more help!

State Rep. Jeff Leach worked behind the scenes to prevail upon the Cowboys’ camera crews to linger just a moment longer on the pair of Army officers in love. And, Jonathon was ready. With a sign made from Steve Clark of My Print Choice in Allen to tell the other fans what was happening, Jonathon ‘popped’ the question, and Amanda accepted.

Witnessed by an adoring capacity crowd, two fine young defenders of our liberty agreed to find their futures together in wedded bliss. Congratulations to 1st Lieutenant Jonathon Cline, best wishes to Captain Amanda Gonzalez, and thank you for your service to our country.
