Celebrate Hockey Weekend Across America at Allen Community Ice Rink (ACIR) Feb. 15-17. Families have a chance to be a part of this three-day event.

The weekend kicks off with Wear Your Favorite Jersey Day on Friday, Feb. 15. Wear your favorite hockey jersey to a special open skate from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Join the hockey “jersey flash mob” and get the chance to have your picture featured on the ACIR Facebook page.

On Saturday, Feb. 16 the ACIR will host a Try Hockey for Free clinic at 1:15 p.m. as a part of Try Hockey Day. Children 4 to 9 years old and new to the game of ice hockey can learn the sport for free in a fun, safe environment. Participants are required to bring a helmet, a pair of gloves and a stick. The clinic will include skate rental and a one-hour group skills session. Pre-registration is required through TryHockeyForFree.com.

The weekend celebration concludes with Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes Day. On Sunday, Feb. 17 at 3:15 p.m. the community is invited to celebrate local hockey heroes at the annual Fire and Police Exhibition Hockey Game.
