DALLAS--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--San Diego-based technology startup 2pointb has chosen Dallas as the launch city for its innovative app, offering riders the latest in app-based transportation, without the gaps in insurance, background checks, and privacy protection common with other players in the space. By partnering with established local transportation companies and helping them modernize operations, 2pointb links riders to reliable, safe drivers in real time via the 2pointb mobile app – combining regulated standards with the convenience of mobile app technology.

“We’re thrilled to launch in Dallas and show our customers how great app-based transportation can be when done right. We have fantastic, eager partners in Dallas that support us and our vision.”

“App-based transportation networks have revolutionized the industry, but many passengers and drivers are now asking who’s taking responsibility to ensure their ride is safe,” said Josh Komenda, principal and CEO of 2pointb. “This question is extremely relevant, as countless alarming stories tied to current players on the market continue to emerge, describing irresponsible drivers, assaults, the consequences of inadequate insurance, and in many cases, unfair business practices. 2pointb will recapture lost trust by proving ourselves as an ethical company that believes in straightforward pricing, ease of use, reliability, and safety. By implementing responsible practices that benefit both the rider and the driver, we guarantee a safe and enjoyable trip for our riders, superior to other options out there,” said Komenda.

The free app is available now for iOS on the App Store, and for Android on Google Play. New users must register and create a login with just their full name and email address, and enter credit card information to facilitate an easy, cashless experience.

Drivers are screened with multiple levels of background checks, and 2pointb partners are fully transparent with their processes and records. They work closely with local regulators to ensure the highest standards of safety. Other companies tout a comprehensive practice, but resist any oversight and lack transparency. Some companies that claim to have a rigorous process still have documented instances in the media of drivers that have been convicted of violent felonies or DUIs. In addition, each driver in the 2pointb system is required to carry commercial liability insurance, which ensures that drivers and passengers are completely covered in the event of any incident and gives riders peace of mind.

The service offers quick access to quotes for nearby luxury SUVs, luxury sedans, taxi sedans and taxi vans. App users simply choose a vehicle option, and can then enter their final destination for a reliable estimate. 2pointb is competitively and fairly priced; there are no last-minute surprises or excessive pricing hikes during peak transportation times.

“Consumers shouldn’t have to sacrifice safety and reliability for convenience. We love the inventive concept of using mobile technology to order a ride, but like many consumers, we began to grow concerned by the stories that have been coming out from our competitors’ customers. Our vision is to drive further innovation and positively impact this industry that we’re passionate about,” continued Komenda. “We’re thrilled to launch in Dallas and show our customers how great app-based transportation can be when done right. We have fantastic, eager partners in Dallas that support us and our vision.”

Komenda co-founded GoFastCab, the first fully automated national taxicab booking system for customers in the United States. He sold the business in 2013 to Arizona-based Total Transit, a major transportation company that funded 2pointb in a separate investment.
