The award-winning sportswriter and historian John Eisenberg will discuss his new book Rocket Men: The Black Quarterbacks Who Revolutionized Pro Football at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 14 at the Allen Public Library.

When records are broken, athletes become heroes. When barriers are shattered, athletes become legends, but the journey to this accomplishment can be fraught with challenges like institutional racism.

Through exhaustive historical research and exclusive interviews with Black quarterbacks and players, coaches, and talent evaluators who have worked alongside them, Rocket Men celebrates those who transformed football and America. 

A former sportswriter for the Dallas Times Herald, John Eisenberg is the author of The League: How Five Rivals Created the NFL and Launched a Sports Empire, and Ten Gallon War: The NFL's Cowboys, the AFL's Texans and the Feud for Dallas's Football Future.
