Dandy Don” Meredith-Demonstrating courage, fortitude and leadership skills as the first major franchise quarterback in the Dallas Cowboy’s history, “Dandy Don” Meredith captured the hearts of his fans. Entertaining his teammates and fans by singing in huddles and later his broadcasts as a national television sports announcer, he was also famous for playing through the excruciating pain of injuries.

Dave Lieber, the author of Dandy Don Meredith -- The First Dallas Cowboy, will discuss this popular quarterback at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at the Allen Public Library.

Every big-name Dallas Cowboy has written a book, but not Don Meredith, yet his story is one of the best. In Lieber’s book, for the first time, is his full life story—along with 70 stunning images.

Meredith’s humorous tangling on ABC’s landmark “Monday Night Football” made him one of America’s most popular broadcasters. He excelled at almost everything he tried, including acting in popular films.  Despite his enduring popularity, Meredith never forgot his East Texas roots.

Dave Lieber pens the popular Dallas Morning News consumer column “Watchdog Nation” and is also the author of Searching For Perot: My Journey to Discover Texas’ Top Family and Amon! The Ultimate Texan.

Admission to the program is free, and the presentation will also be streamed live.  Find viewing options at Watch ACTV or view online at or
