Celebrate Black History Month with Larry Lampkin & The Blues Handlers at 7:30 p.m. Friday February 16, at the Allen Public Library Living Blues Magazine notes, “Larry Lampkin came to the blues late, guided by a dollar store Freddie King CD. Mentored by U.P. Wilson and Ray Reed, the young guitarist was soon a budding bluesman. Within a few years he toured with Vernon Garrett, and over the last decade, he has focused on his own career.”

Larry Lampkin performs on guitar and vocals.  On drums, Jeremiah Clewis, James Witherspoon on Bass Guitar, Anthony Crenshaw on trumpet, and Oscar Spruiell on Keyboard.

Larry has released four CDs—When I Get Home, The Blues Is Real, Keep Doing What You Do, and Funky Blues Man. Larry observes, “Blues music is about humanity.  Being a blues artist puts me in touch with people’s souls. I can sometimes read and feel when people are going through something, even if they are strangers.”

Can’t be there in person? The program will also be streamed live on ACTV. Find viewing options at Watch ACTV or view online at  ACTV.org or YouTube.com/AllenCityTV
