Flamenco boldly challenges perceptions and leaves its audiences wonderstruck. Lose yourself in the fiery rhythms and sensual dance moves of this timeless tradition at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, free, at the Allen Public Library.
The enthralling group Flamenco Fever features three musicians and three dancers. In her 25-year career, headliner Julia Alcantara has produced 12 flamenco festivals that boasted some Spain’s greatest talent and a couture show. Special guest Paco De Andrea trained as a flamenco dancer in the tablaos in Granada, where the performers are renowned for strength and elegance in their dance. Graciela Santana joined the prestigious company El Ballet Español de Cuba. There, she rose to become the first ballerina and teacher specializing in the four genres of Spanish dance.
