It has been more than 400 years since his death, yet the works of William Shakespeare continue to influence modern literature, music and film. Perhaps more than any other artist from his period, Shakespeare’s works continue to remain relevant.

Starting at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, October 15, players from Shakespeare Dallas will offer several performances of scenes from Shakespeare’s plays. You can also enjoy a story walk based on Flibbertygibbety Words and have fun with Shakespeare-themed games and puzzles.

At 3:00 p.m., the Allen Philharmonic’s Orchestra presents its free fall concert for young audiences.  ALLen Reads co-chair Patrick McGowan observes, "As a complement to ALLen Reads, this year's Concert for Young Audiences will offer a variety of musical pieces that have something "Shakespearean" about them. Featured composers will include Elton John, Leonard Bernstein, and Cole Porter, all of whom created music inspired by such plays as Romeo and JulietHamlet, and Taming of the Shrew."

Can’t be there in person? The program will also be streamed live on ACTV. Find viewing options at Watch ACTV or view online at  ACTV.org or YouTube.com/AllenCityTV

This program is a collaboration between the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra and ALLen Reads program of the Friends of the Allen Public Library.
